SVG to ICO Converter

Turn a vector logo into one ICO file with the sizes your website or Windows app needs. Check the small versions before you export.

Several icon sizes, one ICO file

Pick a useful size set

Start with website sizes (16, 32, 48px) or Windows app sizes (16, 24, 32, 48, 256px), then customize the selection.

Make space for your logo

Your artwork is fitted proportionally inside a square. Adjust padding and background without stretching a wide or tall source.

Check the smallest version

Preview 16px and 32px at their actual size on light and dark backgrounds. Fine lines and small text may need a simpler source design.

How it works

  1. 1

Add an SVG file or paste SVG code.

  2. 2

Select sizes and adjust padding and background.

  3. 3

Preview the icon and download one multi-size ICO.

One ICO file can hold several rendered sizes

An ICO is a container of square images. This converter renders every selected size from your SVG, then stores them together in one .ico file. That is useful when a Windows application or website asks for ICO. A complete website icon setup usually needs additional files, which the favicon generator provides.

Prepare a logo that works at 16px

  1. 01Simplify before shrinking

A short mark or single letter usually reads better than a full wordmark. Fine details that disappear at 16px need changes to the artwork; adding a 256px frame cannot restore them in the smallest frame.

  2. 02Fit the artwork into the square

The converter preserves proportions and centers your SVG. With 8% padding on each side, 84% of the square remains available for fitting. Source viewBox whitespace is kept, so trim excess whitespace before adding padding.

  3. 03Check light and dark surfaces

Use the actual-size previews to inspect edges and contrast. Choose a solid background if the mark needs a fixed surface, or keep transparency for an icon designed to work on different backgrounds.

Fix small, clipped or incompatible icons

The icon looks too small
Reduce padding and inspect the source viewBox. Empty space inside the SVG is included when it is fitted into the icon square. Use the SVG crop tool to trim that space first.
Letters or shapes are missing
Convert text to paths, embed linked images and check the SVG compatibility warning. For strokes and shadows, make sure the source viewBox includes the full artwork.
An older application rejects the ICO
Frames use PNG encoding inside ICO, supported by modern Windows. Legacy software may require BMP/DIB frames; this tool does not export that older variant. Test the file in the application that will use it.

Where is my SVG processed?

Conversion runs in your browser; your SVG is not uploaded to our server for conversion. Sources carried between tools are kept in memory and cleared on reload. Linked images or fonts may require network requests. Outline text and embed resources for a self-contained file. Read our privacy policy

Frequently asked questions

Does the ICO really contain multiple sizes?

Yes. Each selected size is rendered separately from the SVG and included in one ICO container.

Can I use it for Windows icons?

The ICO contains PNG-compressed images supported by modern Windows (Vista and later). Use the Windows preset and check the icon in your target application. Legacy XP icons are not supported.

Will my non-square logo be stretched?

No. It is centered within a square while preserving its proportions. Padding adds more space around it.

Do I need an ICO or a favicon package?

Choose ICO for a single icon file. Choose SVG to Favicon for a website package with SVG, PNG, ICO, a manifest and installation instructions.

Can I rename a PNG or SVG to .ico?

No. Renaming does not create the ICO header and image directory. This tool builds an ICO container with an independently rendered PNG for each selected size.

Does this make macOS ICNS icons?

No. ICO and ICNS are different containers. If your application requires .icns, use an ICNS-specific workflow rather than renaming the ICO file.
